Fluid–structure interaction of multi-body systems: Methodology and applications

We present a method for computing fluid–structure interaction problems multi-body systems. The fluid flow equations are solved using fractional-step with the immersed boundary proposed by Uhlmann (2005). of rigid bodies recursive algorithms Felis (2017). two systems weakly coupled, so that resulting is cost-effective. accuracy demonstrated comparison two- and three-dimensional cases from literature: flapping flexible airfoil, self-propulsion plunging plate, flag in free stream. As an illustration capabilities method, bio-inspired applications presented: extension to three dimensions plate simple model spider ballooning.
